Kalkan is located on the Mediterranean coast
of Turkey 1.5 hours east of Dalaman airport.
Once a Greek fishing village, the old town hugs the shoreline of
a small, pristine half-moon bay. The new residential areas of this seaside village dot the surrounding foothills of the Taurus mountains. Quiet in winter, from April through October Kalkan hosts a few thousand international visitors seeking sun, sea and the quaint atmosphere of the town with its many rooftop and portside restaurants lining the marina.
Most often described as a charming and romantic haven, Kalkan is off
the beaten track of the discos, noise and chaos that characterize so
many seaside towns in summer.
Kalkan's historic center retains much of its former character and offers many small boutiques selling everything from carpets to jewelry, leather goods to ceramics. Here there are also many cafes, grocers and other shops to supply your needs. Swimming in Kalkan is either from the rock platforms at the outside edge of the marina and at Villa Mahal or Club Patara, or on the town beach, or from a boat. The town beach is pebbly, but at 5 kilometers is Kaputas beach, a gorgeous fine sand beach set at the foot of a spectacular mountain gorge. Or if you prefer something gentler, Patara Beach, 18km of fine sand inside an archeological excavation with no beach hotels to spoil the beauty, is only a 20' drive away by dolmus (minivan) or car. This beach is one
of the lovliest in Turkey and is not at all crowded.

Villa overlooks Kalkan Bay and enjoys
spectacular views from it many terraces. From the breakfast terrace you will enjoy a sweeping panoramic view where you can watch the sailboats, wooden gulets, and dive boats leaving the marina for their daily excursions. At night you will enjoy sipping drinks under the stars on the rooftop terrace where you will marvel at the awesome views of the moon reflecting on the midnight blue water of the bay and the lights of Kalkan twinkling below you.
And for a total change of scenery and atmosphere, drive 8 km up into the pine-forested mountains behind Villa to Islamlar where you can dine al fresco on fresh trout, all the while enjoying the stunning views down the forested valley to the sea in the distance. Cost is half of what Kalkan restaurants charge.
