About this car
The Hyundai Tucson 1.6 CRDi diesel automatic is our SUV pick for couples or families who want SUV ride height without paying VIP-class money. The high seating helps a lot on the long D400 driving day, the boot (620 litres) eats two large suitcases plus a beach bag, and the soft suspension is unbothered by the rougher stretches up to Kalkan villages or down to remote Kekova viewpoints. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, lane-assist, reverse camera, panoramic roof on most cars in the fleet.

Frequently asked
- Is it 4×4?
- No — our Tucsons are front-wheel-drive. For all the roads tourists actually drive on along the Lycian coast, FWD is more than enough; the SUV ride height does the heavy lifting on rough surfaces.
- How is parking in Kalkan with this size?
- Manageable. The Tucson is shorter than people expect (4.5 m), and our cars all have parking sensors and a reverse camera. Old-town spots are tight everywhere; we usually park at Kalkan Marina if visiting town in the evening.
- Does the panoramic roof open?
- On most cars yes — it slides and tilts. Worth keeping closed in midday August sun, but lovely in the evening on the way back from Kaş.
