Antalya Airport to Kaleiçi (Old Town) Transfer

Antalya Airport sits inside the city itself, so this is one of the shortest transfers we run — no coastal highway, no mountain pass, just a short drive through modern Antalya toward the sea. The road passes the newer districts before the old walls of Kaleiçi come into view, with Hadrian's Gate marking where the historic town begins.

Kaleiçi is Antalya's original walled city, its cobbled lanes still following the old street plan around a horseshoe-shaped harbour that has taken ships since antiquity — today a yacht marina rather than a naval base. Hadrian's Gate, built for the emperor's visit in AD 130, is still how most visitors step inside; the fluted Yivli Minaret, raised by the Seljuks in the 13th century, remains the skyline's clearest landmark. Between the two, restored Ottoman timber houses — once merchants' konaks — now run as small boutique hotels, their courtyards opening onto lanes too narrow for anything but foot traffic. It's this mix of Roman gate, Seljuk minaret and Ottoman houses within a few hundred metres of each other that keeps travellers based here rather than on the newer hotel strips outside the walls.

Once you're on the road, Kaleiçi's lanes are the one thing worth planning around — many are narrow and largely closed to traffic, so the driver gets as close to your hotel or villa door as the street allows and walks the last stretch with your luggage if the lane is too tight for the car.
